It’s just like buying a new sofa, you have to be sure you like it.

Now, don’t get confused, if you ask any estate agent, they would say that granite flooring is a huge house upgrade! After you have your favorite granite colour installed, all you should think about is its maintenance. Of course, granite is a very durable rock, so it can take a lot of beating before it needs resealing. However, cleaning should be done on a regular basis. Here are some tips on the maintenance and mistakes to avoid.
  • To determine whether your granite flooring needs sealer you can perform the “paper towel test”. Just soak a paper towel and then place it on the granite tiles for about 5 minutes. If the towel gets dark from the water contacting the granite, then it needs sealers. In this case, you’d better book for professional flooring services

  • Granite flooring has natural stain and mold resistance. However, you need to clean the surface regularly with a soft microfiber towel.

  • Granite is scratch resistant. That’s why it is a widely spread flooring material for all kind of commercial buildings. Just ask your local commercial flooring company.

  • Try not to use unsuitable cleaning products. Read the labels carefully and avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning your granite flooring.

  • Don’t add too much water when cleaning. This can flood the area and the cleaning will not that effective. You will just spread the dirt around instead of removing it from the surface.

Avoiding some of these widespread mistakes allows you to enjoy your granite flooring for many years to come. When you go to the store, don’t forget to ask the sales assistant for advice too.
